This lawsuit was brought against East Cooper Regional Medical Center, Hilton Head Regional Medical Center and Piedmont Healthcare System (collectively referred to as the "Hospitals"). It is alleged that patients at the Hospitals were not provided with a statutory discount to which they were allegedly entitled. The Hospitals deny that they acted improperly or wrongfully in any way and deny any and all allegations of wrongdoing, fault, liability, or damage of any kind to Plaintiffs or other patients.
You are a Class Member of the South Carolina Tenet Healthcare Settlement if you were a patient of the Hospitals during the period of October 7, 2001 to May 22, 2006 ("Class Member"). You may be eligible for a refund if you did not have insurance coverage at the time of treatment and paid out-of-pocket one hundred percent (100%) of your bill within thirty (30) days of receiving the original bill.
Class Members who were patients of the Hospitals after December 31, 2004, and who paid out-of-pocket for medical treatment are required to complete and submit the Proof of Claim Form to the Settlement Administrator no later than September 15, 2006.
The Court granted Final Approval of the Settlement at the Fairness Hearing held on August 29, 2006.
